Borut Pahor Following his official visit to Austria, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived in Slovenia on May 13 where he met with the country's president to have bilateral talks and sign some deals.
At first, the presidents had talks in narrow format. The two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Slovenian partnership.
Thanking Slovenia's president Borut Pahor for warm greeting, Berdimuhamedov invited his counterpart to take part in the forum dedicated to Turkmenistan's 20th anniversary since obtaining the status of neutrality. President Borut Pahor thanked for invitation.
Later on, the presidents have joined the Turkmen-Slovenian talks in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
The focus of the talks was energy cooperation between Turkmenistan and Europe, cooperation within the international organizations, and other.
After the talks, the presidents took part in the ceremony of signing of bilateral documents.
Berdimuhamedov and Borut Pahor adopted a joint statement following the talks.
The sides have also signed the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Slovenia on cooperation in the field of transport; Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Slovenia on international road transport; Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia on cooperation in the field of culture; the Program of cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia in 2015-2016; the Agreement on scientific cooperation between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Slovenia.
After the ceremony, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Slovenia had a joint press conference.
