The SCO countries will strengthen security measures in connection with withdrawal of NATO forces from Afghanistan, the decision was taken during the 24th meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO), which was held on March 28 in Tashkent, the press service of the SCO RATS reported.
The participants of the meeting approved a draft report of the SCO RATS Council to the Council of Heads of SCO Member States on activities of the SCO RATS in 2013, heard a report from the director of the SCO RATS Executive Committee Zhang Sinfen on implementation of the SCO program of cooperation in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2013-2015, as well as decisions of the SCO RATS Council.
Furthermore, it was decided to hold the second scientific conference on cooperation in combating international terrorism and extremism among the SCO members and observer states of the SCO in the second half of 2014.
The draft regulations on the unified register of Internet resources used for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes was approved, and joint measures of SCO regional security and countering threats bodies after partial withdrawal of the International Security Assistance Forces from Afghanistan in 2014 were agreed in order to improve coordination and cooperation among the competent authorities of the SCO member states in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
In addition, the SCO RATS Council approved the regulation on the mechanism of interaction between the competent authorities of the SCO member states in identifying, preventing and suppressing the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes.
The Council adopted a number of decisions on organizational, personnel and financial support of SCO RATS Executive Committee.
The 25th meeting of the SCO RATS Council will be held in September 2014 in Tajikistan.
