Rights of Poles in UK priority for Warsaw: PM

Speaking in Prague on Thursday, Morawiecki said that both Poland and the Czech Republic had tried to do all they could to support a compromise solution over Britain’s exit from the European Union.

"This compromise is not easy, of course, but we emphasized the importance of flexibility and creative solutions in this context," Morawiecki told reporters.

He was speaking at a press conference in Prague after meeting his Czech counterpart Andrej Babiš.

“We also emphasized that a so-called no deal… does not really solve anything," Morawiecki added.

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Thursday faced a political crisis as she fought to save a draft divorce deal with the European Union -- and her own position -- after her Brexit minister quit.

Meanwhile, the Polish and Czech prime ministers on Thursday headed talks in Prague between top officials from the two countries on issues including Brexit.

The inter-governmental talks also focused on the future EU budget, migration and bilateral relations.

Morawiecki said that trade between Poland and the Czech Republic was worth EUR 20 billion (USD 22.6 bn).
