The Embassy of Turkey took over the authority to establish ties between NATO and Uzbekistan from the Embassy of Latvia.
The Embassy of Turkey will be responsible for establishment of contacts between NATO and Uzbekistan during 2019-2020.
The Embassy of Latvia handed over administration of this process at a ceremony in Tashkent. The Embassy of Latvia handled the process for 2 years.
The Embassy of Turkey in Tashkent has sent inquiry to the NATO Center in Brussels to establish ties between NATO and Uzbekistan and obtained affirmative answer.
Uzbekistan is one of the most important countries for NATO, since NATO ships humanitarian aid to Afghanistan through Uzbekistan, Ambassador of Turkey in Uzbekistan Ahmet Başar Şen said.
The Embassy of Turkey will bridge exchange of information between Uzbekistan and NATO, the Ambassador said.
