Former deputy chairman of BTA Bank Zhaksylyk Zharimbetov asks eurodeputies to stop publishing misinformation in Western media. He said that his return to the RK and participation in the trial of BTA in the European media is interpreted incorrectly
The figurant of the case of ex-head of the board of directors of BTA Bank Mukhtar Ablyazov published an open letter addressed to the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe P. Agramunt and the Secretary-General of the same organization V. Savitsky. According to Zharimbetov, his voluntary return to Kazakhstan and participation in the trial of the case of embezzling BTA Bank's money in a number of European media is interpreted incorrectly and is aimed at "undermining my reputation, human rights and freedoms."
"The Polish foundation" Open Dialogue "with the submission of Mukhtar Ablyazov published a series of analytical materials in which the fact of my arrival in Kazakhstan is called" kidnapping ". I openly declared and declare again that no one has abducted me.
I arrived in Kazakhstan on my own decision, taken without any pressure on me. I could use the status of a political refugee granted to me by the UK, but I did not do it on purpose, "the letter says. Zharimbetov stresses that his wife's statement about the abduction was inspired by Ablyazov and the head of the "Open Dialogue" Lyudmila Kozlovskaya. "They persuaded my husband to sign a letter about my alleged abduction, taking advantage of her condition related to the entire situation around me," said the ex-deputy chairman of BTA Bank.
At the same time, Zharimbetov notes, "Open Dialogue" continues to publish materials about the abduction, and the defendant asks the deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly to intervene in the situation. "To draw the attention of the" Open Dialogue "to the inadmissibility of using false untested facts for publications, to force them to refute these slanderous statements and explain their actions," Zhaksylyk Zharimbetov wrote. He stressed that he is handling an open letter, because he has no opportunity to organize a personal meeting with the organization's employees.
"I sincerely ask you to consider my direct appeal in order to clarify my position on the situation around me and restore my honest name," Zhaksylyk Zharimbetov sums up.
