Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan study cooperation potential in energy sphere

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as energy powers, are studying the potential of cooperation in the energy sector, said in the Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Turkmenistan Vahdet Sultanzade's report spread by Turkmen media outlets. This report is timed to the 92nd anniversary of the declaration of the Azerbaijani Democratic Republic.

"Our countries, as energy powers jointly concentrate the efforts on the organization, improvement and further development of its oil and gas industry, studying the possibility and potential of cooperation in the energy sector and the corresponding presentation of them to the world," the diplomat said.

He said "advantageous location of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan at the interjection of Europe and Asia, as it was repeatedly emphasized by heads of states, determines the efficient use of the geo-economic features of the two countries in the interests of their national development, as well as from the perspective of mutually beneficial cooperation with other interested countries."

Vahdet+SultanzadeSultanzade stressed that Azerbaijan on the pace of economic development has turned into one of the leading countries not only in the CIS, but also in Eastern Europe.

Interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, as he stressed, "imbued with the traditional fraternal relations between the two peoples, rooted in ethnic, togetherness, common historical destiny".

The two countries dynamically and fruitfully cooperate in key sectors of the socio-economic and political development by signing during the years of independence more than 40 bilateral agreements at the level of interstate, intergovernmental, and interdepartmental contacts.

Intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission on economic cooperation actively operates.

Cultural exchanges, in particular, holding the Days of Azerbaijani cinema in Ashgabat, staging operetta of the famous Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov "Arshin mal alan" in Turkmen on the scene of the State Music and Drama Theatre named after Makhtumkuli, presentation of the book "Makhtumkuli's creative works" by associate professor of Baku State University Firuz Ahmadov, Makhtumkuli and Mollanepes's poetic works collections, holding Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Azerbaijan, to be held in the near future, play a great role.

The diplomat drew attention to the fact that the State Publishing Service of Turkmenistan published a book from the series "Life of Outstanding People" on national leader Heydar Aliyev.
