The use of the territory of Tajikistan for the withdrawal of British troops in the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) in 2014 was discussed in Dushanbe on Friday by President of Tajikistan Emomalii Rahmon and State Minister for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom Nick Harvey.
"We discussed the use of land of Tajikistan for the withdrawal of goods and British troops from Afghanistan in 2014," Harvey told reporters after a meeting with Rahmon.
Rahmon assured that the decision of Tajikistan will be presented to the British side in the near future through diplomatic channels, said Harvey.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, in 2014 they will have to withdraw about 11,000 containers and about 3,000 armored vehicles from Afghanistan.
"Tajikistan is an important partner for the UK, and we are very grateful for the support of Tajikistan that we receive during our stay in Afghanistan," said Harvey.
Nick Harvey and Minister of Defense of Tajikistan Sherali Khairulloev signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
