Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov speaking at the Eurasian Media Forum here in Astana on June 24 once again commented on the reports that Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were reportedly in talks about sending the peacemaking mission to Syrian war zones.
“I once again want to highlight that Kazakhstan is not discussing this question,” he said.
Kazakhstan would only consider this question if the respective resolution would be adopted at the UN Security Council, if there would be a consensus, he said.
Answering the question of a journalist if Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan could get trapped by the Syrian crisis by sending troops to Syrian war zone, Mr Abdrakhmanov said that the two independent, sovereign states will never get trapped by the crisis.
Astana is hosting the Eurasian Media Forum June 22-24 with Senator Dariga Nazarbayeva in attendance.
