The campaign on promoting Kazakhstan in non-permanent members of the Security Council of the United Nations is one of the most important priorities of the country’s foreign policy.
The Head of the Geopolitics and Regional Research Service under the Library of the First President of Kazakhstan - the Leader of the Nation Yerzhan Saltybayev commented for the portal ORTCOM.KZ the chances of Kazakhstan to get into the coveted top ten and the benefits of membership in the Security Council.
"For Kazakhstan – it is the issue of international positioning. Because non-permanent members of the UN Security Council - the countries of the first echelon. These states, though not on a regular basis, but during two years are taking part in addressing global security issues and the resolution of international conflicts on an equal basis with the permanent members of the UN Security Council,” said the expert.
Meanwhile, the speaker stressed that Kazakhstan has good chances to become a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
"The leading countries have already supported us, because our President put forward many constructive initiatives. Some of them were presented at the 70th session of the UN General Assembly. And these initiatives always resonate with the global community. Therefore, many countries are interested in our candidacy,” he concluded.
