A vitriolic war of words between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump has triggered concern across the world. As Trump vowed at the UN General Assembly to "totally destroy" North Korea, Kim responded by threatening to "tame the mentally deranged US dotard with fire."

As expected, Chancellor Angela Merkel’s center-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) won the German elections with 33 percent of the votes. This is less than expected but a victory it still is. The real winner, however, appears to be the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which gained an unprecedented 13 percent of the votes.
The new foreign policy of the US, which seems to follow the direction of abstracting itself from the international agenda, focusing only on the issues relating to the country’s national interests, may harm these interests.
Poland’s foreign ministry said on Monday that Warsaw hopes the Spanish government and Catalan authorities will settle relations “without having to resort to the use of force and street protests.”
