The United States of America and Uzbekistan are equally interested in strengthening security in Central Asia and furthering the prosperity of the region, the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan George Krol told the country's media outlets on Wednesday.
"We are pleased to support the initiatives of the Uzbek leadership and civilian institutions on providing regional security, the fight against terrorism, drug abuse and drug trafficking. We highly appreciate the huge contribution of Uzbekistan in strengthening peace and stability and in particular its continuous support to Afghanistan. We will consistently continue our large scale cooperation with Uzbekistan in implementation of corresponding projects and initiatives," the diplomat said.
According to him, the United States of America is interested in a solution of issues connected with management and rational use of water and energy resources and hope that the open dialogue will contribute towards this area.
Concerning cooperation between the two countries in investment, trade and economic spheres, Krol noted that negotiations held in Washington and Tashkent and in particular annual bilateral consultations contributed towards attracting equal partners in an open and friendly dialogue, covering all aspects of bilateral relations.
He also underscored that the U.S. supports Uzbekistan's desire for development and diversification of the economy, as well as use of existing capacities to promote regional trade and commerce. As the diplomat noted, promising areas of development of mutual cooperation are the spheres of science and technology, education and culture.
"I firmly believe that our relationship will develop for many years," the U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan said.
